I ventured away from the central Florida theme parks to look at some cars at the Mecum Auction in Kissimmee. The highlight of the day for me was doing the Dodge Thrill Ride experience. Pirelli World Challenge professional driver, Tom O’Gorman, drove the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat that I rode in. It was AWESOME! Some of the cars shown in detail in the video include a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix pace car signed by Tony Stewart, a 2014 Ferrari La Ferrari, a 2016 Ferrari La Ferrari, and a Metropolitan. We also discovered some of the non-auction activities to do at the Mecum Auction in Kissimmee like watching the Travel Channel’s Andrew Zimmern on the Midway Stage. Zimmern showcased how to use a sous-vide device in your own kitchen. Cars aren’t the only things auctioned off during a Mecum event. There is also road art! One of the main draws in that area was the original Brown Derby Wilshire neon sign in the shape of a bowler hat. We also saw fun things like a neon lobster and coin operated rides like you’d see outside of a grocery store. My favorite item spotted at the Mecum Auction was a bumper car that Elvis Presley drove around in at the Libertyland amusement park in Memphis, TN.
