I visited Walt Disney World’s Epcot on the first day of the Chinese New Year. We stopped into the China pavilion to see if there was anything special going on to celebrate the Chinese New Year. The only decoration we found in the pavilion were decorative cardboard pigs hung up all over the store. We also discovered that the main merchandise store in the China pavilion sells Shanghai Disneyland merchandise. They had several items commemorating the one year anniversary of Shanghai Disneyland. In the Festival of the Arts booth near the China pavilion at Disney World’s Epcot, Wenbo Zhang (or another Chinese candy master) will create handmade Dragon’s Beard candy and sugar paintings. There was even a sugar painting that spelled out Happy Chinese New Year. These offerings are available throughout the Festival of the Arts at Epcot and are not just to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

In the midst of celebrating the Chinese New Year at Epcot, I checked in on some construction projects going on around the park. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at Epcot is coming right along. The ride building had some new metal working and pipes. The interior view of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind didn’t show much except some new metal work.

In between Test Track and Mission: Space, we found the latest look at the new space-themed restaurant coming to Epcot, Space 220. On our way to the China pavilion, we stopped to watch Mariachi Cobre in the Mexico pavilion. The World Showcase Lagoon in Epcot has its own share of construction going on. We spotted cranes, buoys marking what could be placeholders for future effects, and cinder blocks. The France pavilion has construction ongoing for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, opening on October 1, 2021.

Alice, from Alice in Wonderland, said hello to us by the England pavilion. We noticed prep work going on for the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival. The infamous green walls and quilt markers were out. Wreck it Ralph and Vanellope were meeting guests in the Innoventions, but they have since moved to ImageWorks, so we’ll have to check out their new home during our next visit!
